Welcome to TextReveal®! Discover the two ways to use SESAMm data, TextReveal Dashboards and TextReveal® API, and the key concepts they share.
What is TextReveal®?
TextReveal® is SESAMm's AI-powered platform for ESG controversy monitoring and reputational risk data. It collects content from over 4 million sources in more than 100 languages, and monitors over 5 million public and private companies worldwide. Its data lake holds over 30 billion historical articles and grows by more than 10 million new documents every day.
You can use SESAMm data in two ways:
- TextReveal Dashboards, the web platform, to explore companies and portfolios without writing code.
- TextReveal® API, to bring the same data into your own systems, models and AI assistants.
TextReveal Dashboards
The Dashboards are organized around two modules:
- Event Monitoring delivers near real-time ESG controversy data for companies and portfolios. Articles from thousands of sources are grouped into events and cases. Each event has an intensity score, and each company gets an aggregated Controversy Exposure Score (CES). Its dashboards are Case Monitoring and SDG Positive Impact for a single company, and Case Portfolio Monitoring and SDG Portfolio Monitoring for a portfolio.
- AI Reports give you investor-grade analysis on demand: ESG assessment, deal screening, legal risk, good governance, supply chain or portfolio screening. Reports arrive in anywhere from under 30 minutes to a few hours. See AI Report to request your first one.
Event Monitoring data can also reach you through daily or weekly email alerts. Follow the TextReveal Dashboards guide to set up your account and explore the data.
TextReveal® API
The API gives you programmatic access to the same data as the Dashboards, and more. Most of this documentation is dedicated to it:
- ESG & SDG data: the data behind Event Monitoring.
- Global data & indicators: direct access to our data lake, beyond ESG.
- Tasks: AI Reports and coverage extensions.
AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can also query it through the MCP Server. Read the API Overview for the content of each section and the steps to make your first API call.
Key concepts
These concepts are used across the Dashboards and the API:
| Concept | What it is |
|---|---|
| Entity / Company | A monitored company (or any other tracked subject). |
| Document / Article | A single news article or web page. |
| Event | A single incident or development, with an intensity score. |
| Case | An ESG controversy, made of one or more events over time. |
| CES | A 0–100 score measuring a company's exposure to ESG controversies. |
| Universe / Portfolio | A list of companies you monitor together. |
| ESG category / ESG topic | The Environment, Social or Governance topic a case belongs to. |
