Controversy Exposure Score

The CES (Controversies Exposure score) is a proprietary SESAMm score designed to track the level of exposure to ESG controversies through time.

The CES helps to:

  • Conduct quick risk assessments
  • Track ESG controversy exposure trends
  • Benchmark companies against their peers

This is an unsolicited rating: it is not commissioned by the rated company. The company is notified before its score is first issued, does not take part in the rating, and SESAMm has no access to its management or non-public documents. Ratings are produced only from public and licensed sources.

Methodology: sesamm.com/methodology

The CES value is synchronized twice a day.

The CES is only available 48 business hours after an entity is registered. Business hours count only Monday through Friday (excluding weekends). For example, an entity registered on Friday at 10

UTC becomes accessible on Tuesday at 10
UTC.

Before the 48 business hour window has elapsed, requesting the CES for that entity returns a Forbidden error.

What is the CES?

The CES score is based on ESG data.
It is based mainly on three factors: the intensity impact (intensity score of the event), the volume impact (volume of news associated with an event) and the novelty impact (age of the case).

The result is a continuous score between 0 and 100. A higher score means a higher level of exposure to the event.
