Case

A case is an ESG controversy, a dispute or debate surrounding the environmental, social, or governance practices of an entity.

Cases group together related news coverage about a single controversy over time. They are associated with an ESG category and carry a severity level that reflects the relevance and impact of the controversy.

A case is made up of one or more events. It remains open as long as new relevant events are detected. The case's last_activity corresponds to the most recent event.

The CES score is derived from cases: each case's severity, volume of coverage, and recency all factor into the final score.

A case is linked to one entity.
